What is WordPress?
WordPress is the most popular content management system (CMS) in the world. It is used to build many different kinds of websites. At Utrecht University we host WordPress sites that are mainly University of Utrecht house identity , but we do have the possibility to cater for other styles, colors and logo’s.
On this page you will get an overview of the most important parts of WordPress, to help you build your website.
What can you find here?
- Pages: Create static pages like “About us” or “Contact”.
- Posts: Write new posts for your news page or blog.
- Block-editor: Build pages and posts with blocks.
- Images and documents: Upload images and files to your site.
- Users: Add users or remove them. What roles can users have?
- Reactions: Check and approve reactions/comments of your visitors.
- Plugins: Add extra functionalities to your website.
